Hawaii is the Happiest State

DSC_0042-resizeDon’t just take our word for it. For the sixth year in a row, the esteemed Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index has named Hawaii as the happiest state in the nation.

“Hawaii has had a heck of a run,” Dan Witters, research director of the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, told the Today show. “They do a lot of things right there. They take good care of themselves. They do the blocking and tackling of physical wellness really well.”

Among the reasons, according to The Garden Island, are that families comprise nearly 70 percent of all households (the second largest percentage in the country) and the second-most weddings per capita.

The survey involved phone interviews with more than 177,000 Americans covering five areas of life: purpose, social, financial, community, and physical.
